Sankranti: harvest, kites and muggulu సంక్రాంతి
Makara Sankranti (సంక్రాంతి) is the harvest festival, when the sun turns north. In Telugu homes it stretches across three days: Bhogi (భోగి), Sankranti, and Kanuma (కనుమ).
Doorsteps bloom with muggulu (ముగ్గులు) — rangoli drawn in rice flour, often topped with little dung-and-flower mounds called gobbemmalu. Skies fill with kites, and visitors arrive: the Haridasu singing at dawn, and the decorated Gangireddu (the festival bull).
At its heart it's a festival of gratitude and family — for the harvest gathered, and the people you gather with.
